Company Introduction
Bioroom is a green biotech company developing sustainable materials from agricultural by-products and mushroom mycelium. Using proprietary strains and molding technology, it produces Myrofoam, a mycelium-based material optimized for diverse forms and applications. Bioroom holds three granted and three pending patents covering core technologies, including strains, manufacturing processes, functional coatings, and seed germination. Accredited tests have verified 100% biobased carbon content, over 90% biodegradation within 180 days under composting conditions, and no detectable hazardous substances or microplastics. Through a successful open innovation project and PoC with Moorim P&P, Bioroom secured an LOI for annual purchases exceeding KRW 120 million. It is advancing technology and commercialization through government programs such as TIPS, DIPS, and Didimdol R&D, other R&D projects, and investment, with the goal of becoming a global leader in sustainable materials.
Main Products & Services
Myrofoam is a biodegradable, sustainable alternative to EPS, made from agricultural by-products such as sawdust and rice bran combined with mushroom mycelium. It offers excellent cushioning and strength, with properties adjustable to customer requirements, including shape and surface texture, for applications in cosmetics, electronics, and industrial packaging. Unlike petroleum-based EPS, which creates disposal and recycling challenges, Myrofoam uses 100% biobased materials and additives, biodegrades in soil within six months, and releases no hazardous substances or microplastics. Its embedded-seed germination technology enables discarded products to return to nature and supports a circular environment. Bioroom has overcome the industry’s reliance on lengthy mycelium cultivation, drying, and manual production through proprietary liquefaction, curing, growth, and drying technologies. High fluidity and curing within minutes after mold filling reduce mold costs by 99% and production lead time by 63%, establishing a foundation for mass production and commercialization.
